Pushkar,one of the jewels of the great desert of Rajasthan, is a famous holy town. It is here amongst the Temples and Ghats surrounding the holy lake, that ‘Brahma’, the creator, dropped a lotus flower and performed a vedic ‘YAGNA’ during the month of Kartika which gives birth to the Pushkar Festival. Pushkar palace is the best place to stay on the side of the lake, built about 400 years ago by the Maharaja of Kishangarh. Situated on the edge of the lake it offers a panoramic view of 400 temples, banks, sand dunes and the Aravalli hills.
